If there's a piece in Slash's gear that
is really hard to find than it certainly is the Gibson Les Paul Slash Signature
Model. Only 50 were ever produced!
Slash got the #1 and #2 but one of them was
stolen. I've emailed Gibson so that they could give me some informations
on that guitar but aside from " it's a
Custom Shop Les Paul model with Slash image carved into
top, cranberry finish and a coffin case that was produced in 1997 in a
limited run of only 50 " they
didn't knew much - they didn't even had any pics of it
on their site or on their online database (!).
One of these days, a biiiiiiiiigggggg
Slash fan called Paul Korman was at Guitar Center (Hollywood) and
he found ... the #31 Gibson Les Paul Slash
Signature Model !!! He bought it immediately and paid
$7000 for a priceless guitar, a real state of art instrument that looks
gorgeous, feels real amazing and
sounds like ... Shine (you know how good Slash's Shine
guitar parts sound so you know what we're talking about)!
Here's what Paul Korman says about his new guitar, the #31 Gibson Les Paul Slash Signature Model:
" Can you believe how little ANYONE at Gibson knows
about this axe? The custom shop didn't even have file photos! Anyway the
guitar is of the finest in the
world. Gibson Hand crafted every detail. It has
standard size neck (more on the fat side if any), Mahogany neck for warmth,
all maple body with a AAAA flame
top. The Snakepit logo is hand painted and carved
by the custom shop. It has a ABS-1 bridge (as featured on reissue and vintage
Gibsons) stop bar tail
piece, bone nut, 57 classic plus pickups...umm abalone
"Gibson" logo and "Custom Shop-Historic" logo on the headstock w/ chrome
nut plate with Slash
inscribed. As for the fretboard...its a milky smooth
ebony with Mother of Pearl & abalone pieces (over 100) cut and fitted
perfectly to create the cobra.
Diamond shaped pieces of Pearl and Abalone are matched
to create "scales". Like Slash is the coolest motherf!@#ker in the world,
this guitar is the coolest
mf'er ever created. Its sound and playability is
like a vintage 57 LP. The neck pickup is warm and soulful while the bridge
is full of bite and attack. While they
don't behave well together, the can cover an infinite
amount of tones at the flick of a switch. As for how it feels- unlike any
other. No Gibson Gretsch or PRS
I've ever felt can even compare. Not even a vintage
57. As for sound, i don't have a mic. but im pretty sure he recorded SHINE
with it!
