This section contains some
short tabs that include licks, intros, parts of solos, parts of rhythms,
general tabs to play some songs ... that I consider most
relevant for guitar players.
All the tabs you'll find here have their respective sounds played slowly
so you can clearly understand all the notes of the tab!
You can also send me some
licks / parts of Slash related songs that you think are important to understand
his style of playing guitar. Email me the tab and the
respective sound (play the
tab slowly and then fast, don't take it from the records) and I'll put
it here! Send the sound files in mp3 format with 20 Kbps.
Please don't send sound
files bigger than 200k since the space I've got on the web is
only 20 MB so I can't put here big files. Send your recordings to
Slashguitarpage@yahoo.com.

Tab #11: Don't Cry Solo
This is one of the most recognizable Slash solos. The song is a great ballad,
probably the best ballad Guns N' Roses did!
Don't cry starts real slow and dramatic but right before the solo it gets
real furious! The solo uses mostly the Blues and Minor relative scales
of A.
Slash plays some slide ascending octaves in the middle of it. This solo
in particular is pretty hard to ignore and it brings lot's of good memories
from Guns N' Roses old days ...
This solo was submitted by Uri G. from Israel, also known as Antishok
from IRC (on the Dalnet US server) and the tab was made by me.
Thanks Uri for helping Slash Guitar Page with your awesome rendition of
this solo!

Tab #12: Estranged second part first solo
- mp3 and tab submitted by Uri G. from Israel: Thanks Uri for contributing
to Slash Guitar Page!
Estranged is a Guns N' Roses masterpiece, a true epic! Great lyrics and
a great song arrangement reminding some Queen songs! The video for this
song is great too! This song is probably the hardest one to play exactly
like Guns played. How did Slash controlled the feedback so well?
I don't know but it sounds awesome! This song structure consists of 2 parts.
The first solo of the second part uses the C major scale and the
C blues scale and goes like this:

Tab #13: November Rain Solos
November Rain is another Guns N' Roses masterpiece, a timeless song!
Here are the 2 main solos. They aren't very hard to play but they really
sound killer, Slash put lot's of feeling on them! They're played around
the C major scale.
The following tab was submitted by Uri G. from Israel, also
known as Antishok from IRC (on the Dalnet US server).

Tab #14: Welcome To The Jungle
"You Know We're You Are? You're In The Jungle Baby, You Gonna Die!" Wow!
Guns N' Roses were the best!
Welcome To The Jungle is the first track of Appetite For Destruction, GN'R
debut album and to me (and to many critics) the best Hard Rock
album ever! I love this tune! I love the intro the riff the lyrics, ...
Intro - The intro to this song is played with a delay pedal.
General tips to set up your delay pedal: Start off by setting the "effect
mix" to almost even with the original signal (about 50%) and the delay
"time"
to about 150 ms. The feedback control should be set to about 65%.
Anyway I haven't a delay pedal so I came up with my own way of playing
the intro that sounds just the original version. In order to play my version
of the intro, you'll need to be able to control string palm muting technique:
Rest your right hand (if you're right handed) over the strings near the
bridge (don't press the strings to hard or the notes won't ring) and play:
(repeat this last pattern 9 times)

Tab #15: It's So Easy solo
It's So Easy is another brilliant song. The lyrics as always are real good
and the guitar parts are all in the "old school" style (the one we love!).
This isn't a very hard song to play but sounds very aggressive. The solo
is played over the E Blues Scale and here's the tab:
The following tab was submitted by Uri G. from Israel. Thanks
Uri for the tab and your recording of this solo! Keep on rockin' Uri!
Both solos on the record version are played using the G major scale.

Tab #18: Ain't Life Grand
Ain't Life Grand is a traditional blues. Slash had written this song to
a Les Paul tribute but since it never came out, Slash re-recorded it with
Snakepit.
Intro - The intro to this song is played around the C blues scale. There are two different guitars playing on the intro:

Rhythm / Solo Rhythm - The rhythm to Ain't Life Grand uses mainly power
chords and leads played around the C blues scale.
There are two different guitars playing the rhythm:

I'm often asked how can you practice scales. The way I've got to practice
scales is record some chords progressions (or play with the records)
specially oriented to use the specific scale I want to practice. Aside
from being an excellent song, Ain't Life Grand is perfect to practice the
blues
scale. From the beginning of the song till the end you can practice perfectly
the C blues scale because the chords progressions aren't very fast
so it's up to you to choose how fast you want to practice (at any speed
the C blues scale always sounds good in this song). I've
recorded a little
demonstration of me practicing (improvising)
over the C Blues Scale on this song so you can get the general idea
how to practice scales.
Tab #19: Serial Killer
Serial Killer is probably the most elaborated song of Ain't Life Grand.
It has multipart structure arrangement and Slash's and Ryan's guitar work
is hard (for me) to tab because there are many changes in the riffs - as
Slash once said, "the guitar work on my albums were done that way because
they came out that way in the day I've recorded them. I can't play the
same song twice the same" - so it would take a real long, long time to
tab all
the single notes that are played. I don't like to tab all note by note
- it takes a long and hard work just to play exactly like the record -
I always prefer
to learn the basic riffs and the main notes of the leads leaving the rest
to improvise when I play those songs which becomes your playing lot's more
fun and less mechanical than just play previous memorized stuff always
the same way.
So the following tab gives you a general guitar view of the song, chords
and the solo but it isn't 100% like the record.
This song is one of the best songs in the Ain't Life Grand?! album and is the song that I enjoy most to play, along with Ain't Life Grand.

Tab #20: Yesterdays
Yesterdays is one of the easiest GN'R songs to play. The rhythm is pretty
simple and it's all based on arpeggios and power chords. The solo
is also easy to play and it features some of Slashs signature licks. Yesterdays
proves that a good song doesn't necessarily have be hard to play!
Once again, Uri G. from Israel was very kind and submitted
his rendition of Yesterdays so I made the tab to put it here:
Intro / Rhythm:
Slash - Slash plays some D, C and G major chords arpeggios. I think he
uses a little of chorus effect but I'm not sure.
Izzy - Izzy rhythm parts are mostly the D, C and G open chords. In the
intro Izzy uses an effect called tremolo which keeps increasing
and decreasing the volume of your guitar.
Chorus:
Slash - Slash plays some octaves on the chorus:

|--0-----2--3----5-------------|
|----------------3-------5--7--|
Izzy - A B C G power chords
Solo:
The solo is all played around the blues scale. First it starts in the
B blues scale When the rhythm power chords start to go up in the
fretboard Slash follows them playing the key note of those chords
to end up playing some licks on the E blues scale:
