Tabs

        This section contains some short tabs that include licks, intros, parts of solos, parts of rhythms, general tabs to play some songs ... that I consider most
        relevant for guitar players. All the tabs you'll find here have their respective sounds played slowly so you can clearly understand all the notes of the tab!

        You can also send me some licks / parts of Slash related songs that you think are important to understand his style of playing guitar. Email me the tab and the
        respective sound (play the tab slowly and then fast, don't take it from the records) and I'll put it here!  Send the sound files in mp3 format with 20 Kbps.
        Please don't send sound files bigger than 200k since the space I've got on the web is  only 20 MB so I can't put here big files. Send your recordings to
        Slashguitarpage@yahoo.com.

       Tab #21: Slash signature licks
               "Even on your most spontaneous improvisation you never forget your favorite licks" - Gary Moore
                Every guitar player has his favorite licks and sometimes just by hearing those licks we immediately recognize that particular guitar player.
                If you listen to Slash you'll notice that when he plays some certain leads you immediately think that it could only be Slash who's playing that (or
                someone influenced by him)!
                Licks are specially useful when you're improvising but don't base all your solos on a bunch of licks or else they'll sound all the same and they won't have
                that "feeling".
                Here are some bluesy Slash signature licks I took from the improvised solos he used to play on the UYI tour. They're all played using the Blues and
                Minor Relative scales of D:

       Tab #22: Nightrain main solo
                Nightrain has some very impressive solos, especially the last one. Here's the first solo by Izzy and Slash. They're not very hard to play but they
                require some practice to get them right.

       Tab #23: Rocket Queen solos
                Rocket Queen is my favorite song ever, it's a perfect song! Appetite For Destruction couldn't end better with any other song than with this one.
                Beautiful lyrics (specially on the last part!) and a very good song arrangement. There's no doubt Slash, Izzy, Steven, Axl and Duff made the best
                band ever!

                First solo: The first solo is played with a slide using the standard tuning. Click to listen to Uri Gilad rockin' on this solo!

               Final solo: The final solo is played all around the E major scale. The last part is pretty hard for me to figure it out since it's played real fast
                                 so here's my approach to this solo:

       Tab #24: Sweet Child O'Mine main solo
                Sweet Child O'Mine is another brilliant song GN'R from the Appetite For Destruction album. This song in particular shows what Slash's famous for:
                feeling, technique and attitude :) It's not just Slash's guitar work that shines on this track, it's Axl's excellent vocal performance, Izzy's great song writing
                and rhythm guitar playing, Duff's little bass runs and Mr. Steven Adler on drums all together!
                The first solos are very easy to play so I leave them for you to learn them by yourself. The main solo is just perfect, it's my favorite solo ever and it goes
                from dramatic to furious. With lot's of bendings and fast runs this solo is hard to play and might take some time till you get it right. Slash recorded two
                lead guitars on this solo: the first goes from the end of the chorus till the chords change and it plays a solo based on the minor relative scale of E. The
                second guitar kicks in when there's the chords change and starts with a real fast and hard to play ascending lick based on the minor harmonic scale of E.
                Both parts are played with a wah pedal. Here's my approach to this solo:

                  First lead guitar (neck pickup / play with slight wah effect):

                               E                              C                                                    B

                  Second lead guitar (bridge pickup / play with wah effect):

                                                                                                                               A

                  Click if you want to listen to all the solo played at normal speed (I've recorded this some time ago when I bought my wah pedal to test it so it isn't
                  perfect!). I can't tab the last solo since the lead guitar gets a little lost in the mix with the vocals being very hard to figure out all the notes but it's played
                  using the same scales as the solo above so it's up to you to come up with a solo of your own for that part!

       Tab #25: You Could Be Mine solo
                This is a real powerful and agressive song. From the beginning till the end, the way this song is played and singed show all the attitude GN'R had!
                You Could Be Mine features a very good guitar solo and I think that Slash used the Marshall JCM 800 to record this one as his guitar parts have that
                distinctive sound he used around this time (also featured in Right Next Door To Hell, Don't Damn Me, Get In the Ring, ...).

                Main Solo - played using the B and #F blues and minor scales. Here's my approach to this solo:

                                                         B                                                    D                                           B                                                 D

                     Final solo (played  using the #F blues scale):                      Click to listen to this solo played at normal speed (with me screwing it on the end :) !

       Tab #26: Slash Signature licks II
                These are real simple licks played on the key of A that Slash uses very often:

                Lick #6:

                Lick #7:                         Lick #8:                         Lick #9:                 Lick #10 (palm muting the strings):

       Tab #27: What Kind Of Life solo
                On the last update we gave you this unreleased song, now it's time for you to learn the solo! It's vintage Slash and it rocks:

                What Kind Of Life Solo:

     B = Full bend
      Br = Full bend and release
      rB = Full bend release
      b= Half ben
      br = Half bend and release
      rb = Half bend release
      h = Hammer On
      P = Pull-off
      s = Slide
      < > = Harmonic
